Eating out tonight? Try one of these family friendly restaurants in the Phoenix area. These picks are places that my kids always ask to go to and we don’t mind taking them.
This NEW restaurant is at the top of my family’s list for comfort food. While we’ve only had lunch there, they also have a breakfast menu that sounds delicious. I recommend that BBQ waffle sandwich and you can’t miss the Nom Nom Nutella! We’re naming this restaurant kid friendly because, aside from the most amazing waffles, picky eaters can still enjoy the typical kid menu fare. Also, it’s all about location. There are so many fun things to do at the Westgate Entertainment District for the entire family!
2. El Encanto
This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Valley! There’s a second El Encanto in the West Valley, but the drive to the original in Cave Creek is worth it for the duck pond. We always ask to sit by the water and the kids are entertained with duck and turtle watching, while mom and dad can hold a conversation. After dinner, ask for duck food at the front desk!
There are several locations across the valley, including a Firehouse Subs in Glendale. If you have a fire fighter loving child, they’ll love the firehouse decor! The kiddos also all receive fire fighter hats that they can wear while eating their sub sandwich. Aside from the fun atmosphere, the food is really good too and we usually order their subs for birthday parties.
While not unique to the Valley, Chili’s made our list because of the video game tablets at every table. Let’s face it, it’s tough keeping the kids happy while waiting for food and any entertainment is appreciated! Also, the kid menu has some healthier options, like grilled chicken and mandarin oranges, that are mom approved.
Craving BBQ? Head to the Dillion’s in Lichfield Park and dine next to the giant aquarium. This location is located at the Wildlife World Zoo, but you don’t need to purchase zoo tickets to eat at the restaurant. My kids always look forward to the happy face fries they serve with the kids meals!
You can literally slide into the dining room on the Rustler’s Rooste infamous tin slide. If that’s not enough, they have live a live country western band and strolling card shark/magician. The kid menu is the typical kid menu fare, with a steak option. Such a fun environment that my kids always enjoy!
“Don’t play with your food” doesn’t apply here because kids get to play with pizza dough before their meal comes. We’re a huge fan of any restaurant that helps us keep a preschooler and toddler entertained! Plus, every single meal at Oreganos is delicious!
This pizza joint is well worth the drive to the East Valley! A huge organ entertains the crowd as they eat with fun, family friendly tunes. We like to go for birthdays because the organist will usually announce the birthday person’s name and play Happy Birthday. And you really can’t go wrong with pizza for kids!
T.G.I.Friday’s is located inside CHASE field and overlooks left field. This is a must do for your little baseball fans, where they can root on the Arizona Diamondbacks while enjoying a meal!
10. Pei Wei
A little secret of ours at this restaurant is to call in our order as we are driving there, so it’s ready to eat right when we get there. Even when we do wait, the restaurant layout is open and my kids can people watch or play with chopsticks. The restaurant is typically bustling, so the volume level of our loud kids can fade into the background and we don’t feel like we’re disturbing others.
Other family friendly restaurants in the Valley recommended by our contributors: Islands, Red Robin, Sweet Tomatoes, Five Guys, Cafe Rio, Texas Roadhouse, Rawhide, Pinnacle Peak Patio, Peter Piper Pizza, Main Event, Joe’s Farm Grill, Cooperstown, Popo’s and Top Shelf.
